Happy New Year!

It's 2015!

A new year has begun and at Gallery 42, we're finalising an exciting programme of exhibitions and opportunities for your enjoyment in the next 12 months.

I'd like to share with you just a few of the great works we have on display at the moment in the gallery space, starting with this:

The Who: Live at Leeds - limited edition silkscreen by Peter Blake

The Who: Live at Leeds by Peter Blake is one of two glorious silkscreens currently for sale at the gallery. The other is The Second Real Target which follows the famous First Real Target, residing now in the collection of the Tate. The Who: Live at Leeds is an interesting local piece commemorating two things. Firstly, the band's big performance in Leeds in 2006, 36 years after their landmark 1970 performance that produced 'Live at Leeds', their first live album. Secondly, through Blake's commission for the original sleeve, this design echoes that design with several key amendments.

This excellent piece of art, as much as a piece of memorabilia, is number 20 of an edition of 250 and is hand-signed by Peter Blake and framed in a bespoke, one-off frame, beautifully lacquered and sealed - as with all our framed pieces - with the finest German tape to protect the artwork.

Madjid's 'Bull'

This beautiful painting of a bull by Madjid is one of the stand out pieces in the gallery at the moment. Beautifully presented in a new moulding, the image is lifted out of the canvas and given a great sense of movement and gravity. This is a really special picture, hand signed by Madjid and professionally sealed at the rear.

A beautiful floral still life by local artist Nel Whatmore

A beautiful floral still life by local artist Nel Whatmore

This beautifully realised pastel still life is by local artist Nel Whatmore, whose floral pieces are renowned nationwide; Nel even has a stall each year at the world-famous Chelsea Flower Show! This piece is one of our favourites to come into the gallery in some time and it is beautifully presented in a cream frame with a white slip, with glass and a professionally sealed back. We also have a variety of other Whatmores, ranging from limited editions to original landscapes and figurative works. Furthermore, we can arrange a personal consultation with the artist for you.

These pieces are just a tiny handful of what we have to offer in the gallery space's current rotation. Our gallery manager Ian is always rejuvenating the space keeping in mind something that we hold close; the celebration of local artists and their work.

If you would like more information on any of the works here or on the rest of the website, including availability, delivery and pricing, please don't hesitate to pop in and see us or get in touch. We're always happy to help.

From all of us at Gallery 42, our very best wishes for you in 2015 and we hope to see you soon.
