Curated by Liz Allison, Steve Lawson and Ian Monteagle
This is it. This is the big one. We've got just about every one of our major original artists and staff members producing at least one miniature each for this exhibition. You might say its an all-star cast!
The aim of this exhibition is to showcase art that is smaller than most people may originally prefer, exposing to visitors the extraordinary talent of artists who work on such a small scale. There will be a great range of styles visible across the gallery and the event promises to be one to remember! We are following the Royal Academy's guidelines, so all works will be 4.5 x 6 " or smaller.
There are over 100 miniatures ready to go on display and counting!
Amongst our regular artists whose work is to be displayed:
- Allen Tortice
-David J Markham
- Glynis Mills
- John Kaye
There will also be art from the following members of the Gallery 42 team:
- Ellie Moore
- Steve Lawson
- Rod Allison
- Liz Allison
Art from new and amateur artists (who are actually just as good) will also be featured and is to be signposted as such on the night.
Based on the Royal Academy's stipulations that a miniature should be no larger than 6"x4.5", we have used this guideline to construct an entire exhibition of work to be held at Gallery 42 and opening on August 25th. There are many more artists still to be announced and here's the best bit:
If you have a miniature or would like to produce one (that meets the size criteria) in any medium, please bring it in to the gallery or email us a picture. If we're interested we'll get right back to you and even if we decide not to exhibit your work, we'll offer some feedback and tell you why (but if its good it is doubtful that'll happen).
